A Time For Thanksgiving

(our first home)

This morning my heart is thankful. It has been just over a year since we moved into our house. God could not have been more gracious. I remember when Jared and I were trying to decide what part of town we could live in and what we thought we could afford...Both being out of school with new jobs we knew it wasn't going to be much, but we were optimistic. One rainy day (still in our pajamas) we decided to go drive around and see what was for sale. We weren't quite yet ready to make an offer, but were anxious to see what our options were. I had seen a listing for a few houses in our current neighborhood and we decided to check it out. We liked it. The location was great, the houses were cute, it was close to Jared's work. Overall, it seemed like a great place.

We were driving down the street and passed a nice house. Jared happened to look in the rear view mirror and saw a woman placing a "for sale" sign in the yard. We got curious. The lady invited us in to take a look - pajamas and all!!! WE LOVED IT!!! Jared and I went home that night and called our parents. We told them we were thinking about buying a house. Of course being the wise parents that they are we wanted their opinion. The next day we took our parents to see the house. They loved it too. That night Jared and I placed an offer. The next morning there was a contract on the house. We couldn't believe it. And the cool part was that the house wasn't even on the market yet. We got to it before anyone else.

God provided for us, like He always does. We found a great house, in a great location, better than what we thought we would find.

Since we moved in so much has happened. Jared has built a fence for Samson, our very energetic Golden Retriever. We have had a baby!!! We got pregnant just a few short months after moving here and are so glad that this will be Jacob's first home. We also have made some really GREAT friends. Not only did God provide us a wonderful house, but he has surrounded us with the best neighbors we could ask for. It is so rare that you know your neighbors let alone like them. It is something else altogether to actually enjoy them and want to spend time with them. To the Helton's and the Moore's - we are so very thankful for you and for your friendship. It is a joy to share life with you. We love living next to you and if we move...you both are coming with us!!!

Jared and I could not have worked things out better if we tried. We are so thankful for where God has placed us and we look forward to the next year in our wonderful home.
