20 Months and a Broken Computer

Our computer passed away while we were on vacation a few weeks ago. SO SAD!! I have been unable to upload any pictures. As soon as we get our new one there will be much catching up to do. However, I did manage to upload just a few from our 4th of July weekend at the lake to capture Jacob at 20 months.

Jacob turned 20 months while we were out of town. He's saying and doing so many new things right now. Here are a few of my favorites...

- He laughs ALL the time. He laughs at anything and often about nothing at all. The spontaneous laugh is my fave.

- He is my little water bug. He loves to play in the water and has really been enjoying swimming this summer.

- He is quite the little helper. Sweeping the floor, feeding Samson, taking clothes out of the dryer, and cooking with mommy (he helps with the pouring and stirring) are some of his favorite things.

- "Momo" his monkey lovie is still his favorite friend.

- When eating out he will choose healthy foods over fries. Way to go little buddy!!

- New foods: asparagus, broccoli, potato salad, suck sucks (suckers), and nuts - donuts :)

- This boy LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his fruits...strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, peaches, apples, pears, mangoes, bananas, clementines, plums, blueberries, pineapple, and watermelon

- At dinner he drinks from a big boy cup and is doing really well with it.

- He is obsessed with cars, trucks, his yellow bus, and trains. He says "tars" all the time. He also likes "Mas" (Thomas the Train).

- He says "t" for "c".

- Can repeat us when we count to 10. And, when we say 1 he says 2. He is also learning colors. He can say yellow, blue, geen, pink, purple, and brown. He can say things such as "brown Samson" or "yellow flower".

- New animal sounds : alligator, duck, and donkey.

- New body parts: knees, cheeks, bottom, chin, toes, and back.

-Three of his favorite outdoor activities include swinging, jumping on our neighbor's trampoline, and riding on the lawnmower with his dada.

- He still LOVES to brush his teeth.

- He says "whoa" when we pass a truck carrying cars on the road.

- He throws his hands up in the air and squeals "yay" when he is proud of himself or excited about something.

- He says "hold" when he wants to hold something and says "hold you" when he wants to be held.

-He LOVES to give hugs and we LOVE to get them!!

- He recently said "love you mama" for the first time. Talk about melt your heart.

- He likes saying his grandparents and his aunts names over and over again.

- Jacob loves our neighbor Emma. Every time he sees her he wants to hold her hand. So cute!! She is so sweet to always pay attention to him.

- Aunt Mimi (Jayme) drives a red honda. Every time Jacob sees a red car he points to it and says "Mimi". Adorable. And smart.

- Holds his sweet little hands out for ours and says "pray" before meals.

- He always asks to read his Bible before bedtime. Aww. Just precious.

- Two days before we left for the beach Jacob had his first of many accidents. He burned his hand on the dishwasher. It was a 3rd degree burn and looked pretty bad. He handled it like a champ. We went to the office and Jared gave him medicine and wrapped it with some cool blue tape. We actually had to keep it wrapped for a couple of weeks. Anyway, Jacob learned to say medicine or "medsy" and "boo boo". He is so cute to remind us every morning and night that we need to put medsy on his boo boo.

- And, finally the biggest thing. We have started potty training (unofficially). I know it's early. However, he either goes to a corner, squats, and covers his eyes then comes to us and says "poo poo" or brings us a diaper and says "bapa". So....we went the other day and got a potty at the store. We brought it home and introduced them. Last night Jacob was walking around saying "bapa". I took his diaper off and sat him on the potty. He looked at me and started laughing. I told him to go pee pee. And, HE ACTUALLY DID. A LOT. My sister and Jared were both here and we all started screaming and clapping. Jacob put his hands over his face and laughed. Then he threw his hands up in the air, said "yay", and started clapping. We've still got a long way to go, but we're practicing.

Happy Birthday Coach

My dad's birthday was last Friday so we decided to suprise him with a trip to Stones River. My dad is a huge history buff and has always been fascinated with battlefields. I did a little research and found out he had never been to Stones River in Murfreesboro. It was hot, but it was really neat to drive around and take a look at a piece of our nation's history.

After the battlefield we had some lunch and then took a tour of this place called Cannonsburgh Village. It was set up to look like a small village from 1819. It was SO neat. They had the school house, post office, church, dr. office, gas station, general store, and several other buildings. We really enjoyed walking around and trying to envision was it would have been like to live back in those days.

It was a great day and I think my dad really enjoyed it. Happy Birthday Coach!! We love you.

19 Months

Look at this happy little guy!! He just loves to swing...one of the many things he loves doing right now. As I sit writing this he is doing one of his other favorite things - laughing and talking to himself in his crib. His crib is his happy place. He finds such pleasure being in there. Every afternoon when he wakes up from his nap he lays in there and laughs, and laughs, and laughs. I'm not sure what he is finding so funny, but it is so cute. In fact, I think I'll let him laugh a little longer so I can finish up this post.

Jacob is amazing us more and more everyday with the things he is learning and saying. He turned 19 months last week and I just can't get over how big he is getting. Here are just a few of his new and favorite things to do right now...
1. Fave new words: sure, watermelon, fast, grass, chair, mess, lunch, bites, fry, and plane. I counted it up the other day and he can say over 100 words.
2. Jared has been working on Spanish with Jacob. Jared will ask him body parts in Spanish and Jacob can point to his nose, ears, eyes, teeth, mouth, hands, and bellybutton. He also responds to sit down, stand up, leche (milk), and come. Apparently Jacob kept telling me to come in Spanish when we were at the beach, but since I don't speak Spanish I didn't realize what he was doing. We have such a smart little guy on our hands.
3. Jacob is fascinated with the lawnmower. We love to sit on the porch and watch Jared cut the grass.
4. Our boy has a new favorite food - FRIES!!! We let him try his first one a few weeks ago and it's been his favorite thing ever since. Good thing we only let him have fries occassionally or he would be 500 pounds by now :).
5. Jacob also loves to dip. He dips waffles and pancakes in syrup, chicken and fries in honey mustard, ketchup, or ranch. He also likes to just eat the sauce. Just yesterday I caught him eating his honey mustard with a spoon. We had to take the spoon away. YUCK!!
6. He is like a little sponge soaking everything up. He attempts to repeat everything we say and is understanding more and more the things we tell him.
7. Jacob distinguishes his Bible from all his other books and gets so excited to read his Bible before bedtime. This just makes my heart melt.
8. He really likes to run away from you and shut the door. He has locked himself in a room a couple of times. I do not like this game at all.
9. Everytime we leave to go somewhere he has to give Samson a kiss. These two sure do love each other.
10. Brushing his teeth.
11. Jacob has started telling us when he needs a clean diaper. He will walk over holding his bottom and say "poo poo". Or, he will bring us a clean diaper and say "dapa". I don't think we're ready to potty train yet, but I'm hoping these are good signs that it will be easy when the time does come.

We just got back from Destin. A little fun, sun, sand, water, cool breeze, good seafood, family, and good times. It was a quick trip, but we manged to have a LOT of fun while we were there. Jacob didn't remember much from his first trip last year so everything was new again. He had a blast....and of course, I caught it all on camera. He wasn't afraid of the ocean AT ALL. In fact, we couldn't keep him out. He kept trying to put his face under. One time he got away from my dad and the wave swept him out and he rolled under the water a couple of times. We all freaked out hoping he was ok. He didn't cry. Nope. He laughed and wanted to do it again. I think this one is going to be trouble. Ha!

Jacob learned several new words this trip: beach (got to be careful with this one), sand, splash, pool, sure, fish, airplane (we saw a ton everyday), shell, wave, and seriously.

It's always so sad to leave the beach. However, we weren't that sad to leave this time because we're headed back in 3 weeks with Jared's family. More fun in the sun for us! Oh, and more pictures!!! :)
